When planning a b2b e-newsletter campaign, you want to have a reasonable idea of what open rates you want/expect to achieve. For an e-newsletter, your open rate will largely depend on three factors: spam rating, graphic content and whether your list is opt-in or opt-out. If your recipient list is opt-in you can expect higher open rates.
As a rule of thumb, the industry standard open rates are 25-35%. If you achieve rates of between 35-50% you have achieved a great open rate and anything above 50% is exceptional. If you are using an opt-out list, the industry average open rate is less than 20%.
